Failed attempts fixing lid zoötroop a.k.a salad spinner

The plastic gears from picture 3 and 4 where to weak and the holes were to small to make a screw fit.

After many attempts we had to let this project go.

Second attempt
Next attempt was to open up a DVD player and to use the turning mechanism in to the zoötroop.

The below DVD-player was not working for a couple a years. The DVD-player did not read the DVD's anymore. But the turning mechanisme inside was still working.

So the idea was to 'Open up' the DVD-player and to see if the turning mechanisme would work in the zootrope.

The turning mechanisme as showed above, was only working when the integrated circuit board got a signal from the player, that there is a DVD to read. But because it was dettached from the integrated circuit board, it could only work by the motor. Unfortunately it did not wanted to turn by itself. Also this attempt has failed. But the good thing about this attempt is, that the DVD player is working again.

Third attempt

The third and last attempt was to use a part of a juicer.

We did not wanted to use a new juicer but a second hand. Unfortunately we could not find a second hand juicer. So we tried with a new juicer, see below pictures. The turning part of this juicer is to big for the hole of the lid of the lid of the salad spinner. Also this attempt had failed.
